Meyers’ refined and eloquent guitar playing and compositions draw from Brazilian, Latin, and western classical music influences. He has worked with Ron Carter, Kenny Barron, and Gary Burton; a recent release, The Paul Meyers Quartet, features the late great saxophonist and flautist Frank Wess. Master drummer and educator Pereira’s groove and coloristic shadings emanate from his deep familiarity with Brazilian music, straight-ahead, and Latin jazz. He has played with Toots Thielemans, Airto Moreira and Flora Purim, and has his own working band Blindfold Test. The combination of Meyers and Pereira with workshop faculty members Tim Newman on trombone, James Weidman on piano, and Steve LaSpina on bass, promises musical surprises and sparks!
